We’re heading back to the culinary mecca that is Downcity Providence, Rhode Island, for a taste of two fantastic spots serving absolutely gorgeous, creative, and flavorful food: Cafe Nuovo and Mill’s Tavern.

Episode Overview

“Downcity” is the historic downtown core of Providence, Rhode Island, full of history and art and perhaps the highest concentration of world-class dining in the entire state of Rhode Island. We start our exploration with a visit to the original pioneer of creative, chef-driven cuisine, Cafe Nuovo, where classic gourmet American cuisine gets a wonderful infusion of Asian and Greek flavors. In the kitchen we’ll join Executive Chef Manny Largo for the preparation of a beautiful savory apple and cream appetizer. After we’ll dive into a gorgeous chai-spiced crispy duck with braised greens and seasonal root vegetables.

Then we head over Mill’s Tavern, a classic steak house with a decidedly international flair, where we’ll taste through an incredibly diverse selection unbelievable food. We’ll get a taste of their raw bar platter, house-made charcuterie, wood-fired pizza, wild mushroom risotto, seared scallops and bacon, and a phenomenal Tandoori-spiced rack of lamb. And steak of course!
